As an Information Technology company, we know just how much technology empowers people and drives social development all around the world. That is why this last holiday season we decided to do something different, something that would have an impact on those around us. We decided it was time to give back.

At the end of 2019, we launched the BairesDev’s Donation Hub, a campaign where we were able to team up with our clients and give back to all of our communities. We put together a list of non-profit organizations that use technology to drive change and build a better future for those who need it the most. All of our clients had the chance to select one of these charities or another one of their choice, and BairesDev made a total donation of $35500 in their name. Simply put, the campaign was a success.

Most Chosen Non-Profit Organizations

Girls in Tech

Girls in Tech is a global non-profit that works to put an end to gender inequality in high-tech industries and startups. The goal of their organization is to continue educating and empowering women who are passionate about technology. As a result, they offer everything from coding courses to bootcamps to hackathons and startup competitions no matter the age or profession. It is Girls in Tech’s mission to support women with the access and community they need to succeed in tech.

Girls in Tech was founded in 2007 and headquartered in San Francisco. The Girls in Tech global community is 47 chapters strong with an impact of more than 62,000 members in 33 countries. The events and programming in each chapter vary to fit the unique needs of each community.

One Laptop Per Child

One Laptop Per Child Program

The mission of One Laptop Per Child is to empower the world’s poorest children through education. They aim to provide each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop. Every kid gets to take the laptop home so they can access the information at any time. This also impacts the whole family, who now can benefit from having a computer at home.

OLPC focuses on early education and children from ages six to twelve. To this end, the organization has designed hardware, content, and software for collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning. This way, children are engaged in their own education, and learn, share, and create together. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future.

Child’s Play

Child’s Play improves the lives of children in hospitals, clinics, domestic violence shelters, and other facilities using the power of play. Founded in 2003, they describe themselves as a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing distraction and therapeutic play through toys and videogames.

The Child’s Play network reaches over 100 hospitals worldwide. Thanks to the support from companies, individuals and the gaming community, they have been able to bring joy to the lives of many children.

We thank you all!

We want to thank each and every one of our clients, who gave their support and showed their enthusiasm for this project from the very beginning. It’s only because of them that we were able to make all of this happen. This was an amazing experience—and we are definitely looking forward to doing it again in the future.

We also want to recognize the labor of all the non-profit organizations that are part of the technology community. Their work not only helps people but also gives the entire IT industry a higher purpose to look up to. The fact that the most chosen organization was Girls In Tech shows how much gender diversity matters in today’s world, which is a goal that we share and support on our day-to-day.

Once again, thank you. Happy 2020 to all!
